Wild Heart Brewing Review by Clayton Hall

Wild Heart Brewing may just seem like a brewery that only adults can enjoy, but it has great food and atmosphere that people of all ages can enjoy. When I stopped by I was greeted with a historic and rustic atmosphere that made me feel proud to be from Hartsville.

If you aren’t aware, the building where the Brewing Company stands was once a feed and farm supply store that was a memorable part of Hartsville’s downtown area. It features some of the elements from the original store like some tools and an office. Some of the tables also came from old floorboards that are cleaned up and polished.

The building features a huge outdoor seating area that has a great atmosphere in the evening as well as the day. From the main dining area you can overlook the part of the building where the alcohol is made. Something cool to check out is the bathrooms which feature a door which slowly opens handsfree by pressing a lever with your foot. This is a huge thing for the restaurant during covid because it allows people to keep their hands clean after washing them.

The most important part of the place has to be the food. We started off with some fried dough which was seasoned with garlic and salt. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was the perfect amount of savory and texture for an appetizer. Next I order a custom order pizza, with pepperoni, mozzarella and red sauce. The pizza was wood fired and not traditional but they make it work even for someone who prefers the latter. The crust was light and fluffy and the sauce and cheese were a perfect match for that texture.

This entire experience at the restaurant makes this a 10/10 place to eat based on the history, the atmosphere, and the food. This place is a must visit if you are in the area and want to support a local business.
